News from February I missed
I had this stuff written down, but forgot to post it. So, here is a quick update from a month ago.
Dolphin at 60
The Dolphin emulator can hit 60 frames per second for some games. The particular trick has some problems with it, so the creators of the program have not released the way it was done onto the program. Others have tried it, and enjoyed some noteable improvements. So, now you can enjoy Mario Sunshine at 1080p and 60 FPS.
Wahlap is coming to the States
Wahlap is a Chinese arcade company in Guongzhou. They tend to make amazing looking racing games, but have other ideas out there. Although some arcades have imported their games, the company has begun to release full titles onto US soil. The Chinese Arcade scene is starting to really make a presence now, and should be watched for future endeavors.
Luigi's Mansion Arcade
Luigi's mansion is a famous puzzle game for the Gamecube, and now the 3DS. Amazingly enough, Capcom has worked with Nintendo to create a full shooter, with effects, and special guns for the arcade. The game was shown at the big JAEPO show, which is the largest arcade show for the Japanese market in the SEGA booth. This has caused all sorts of headaches about how these companies are involved. The simple answer is that Capcom didn't have any other arcade games, and let SEGA show off theirs. Either way, a great looking game.
Are Classic PC Games worth playing?
This wonderful opinion duel between PC Gamer writers asks this great question. The graphics are bad, the gameplay isn't as fresh, and nobody would ever suspect to steal a piece of gum and flush it down the toilet. On the other hand, some of these games are still incredibly fun. Go and read this fun little conversation.
2D to 3D and Back again
I found a mod for the Blender Render suite that lets you turn a character into a 2D Anime figure. Not only that, a 2D program that turns things into 3D. In other words, with these two programs, you can go back and forth, and find out how messed up you can make the original picture.
Can the iPhone Match the XBox 360?
The video above asks this question, and shows how the smartphone is slowly becoming more powerful than the console. Although not equal now, the release of a new phone every years means that the console has to innovate if it wants to keep customers.
My RetroBox
In what can only be described as something I really want to get onto, there is a mail order random classic game thing. It's like the famous Loot Crate, or other Cheese of the Month clubs, but with retro games. You list your systems, what you are into, and what games you already have. Every month you get a delivery of some random games that the people running it think you would enjoy. Did I mention it all comes gift wrapped so it will be like christmas every month?

ShackNews found out that a company calling itself Atari, but not that one, has announced a new Asteroids. What this means is that a company has acquired the rights to the Atari name, and a few of the old titles. What all this means is unknown, but the description of the New Asteroids sounds like Minecraft in Space, and not the classic arcade game.
A college team has decided to release a new Arcade game. It is an old school ShootemUp, and has tons of gooey eyeballs to explode. There have been previews by IGN, and Buzzfeed. I have a link to the facebook page, as well as the website in the title. It is really cool to see new Indie Arcade Games, and I hope the trend gets bigger.
